The Story of Grabovica Canyon

Geological History
Grabovica Canyon was formed over millions of years through the erosion of limestone rocks. Water slowly but persistently carved this path through the mountains, creating smooth rock formations, natural swimming pools and spectacular waterfalls. The canyon stretches approximately 1 kilometer, but every meter offers something new and fascinating.
The limestone geology of the region means the water that flows through Grabovica is naturally filtered, resulting in the remarkable clarity that makes this canyon so special. You can see straight to the bottom of pools that are several meters deep.
The Waterfalls - The Heart of Grabovica
What makes Grabovica truly special are its waterfalls. Unlike the deep and narrow Nevidio, Grabovica is wide and sunny, allowing the waterfalls to shimmer beautifully in the sunlight. Water cascades down 5 to 8 meter tall cliff faces, creating natural cascades that are perfect for rappelling.
The waterfalls create natural pools at their base, perfect for swimming in the cool, refreshing water. These pools have been used by locals for generations as natural swimming spots, long before canyoning tourism brought international visitors to the area.
Visiting Season
Canyoning through Grabovica is organized from April 15th to June 15th. During summer, the water mostly dries up, making this period the only true window to visit. This seasonality makes the experience even more special - you have a limited window to see Grabovica in its full glory.
The best conditions are typically in May, when snowmelt from the surrounding mountains keeps the water levels high and the waterfalls at their most impressive.
